  1. I have never heard of wax made of lemon juice and sugar. Those two things are amazing for exfoliating the body though. If you mix sugar, lemon juice and a bit of honey you end up with an amazing exfoliating recipe... but wax out of that? I'm curious myself.

  2. I dont think its possible to make home made wax.

    the only kitcheny recipe i know that uses sugar and lemon juice are facials.

  3. Things You’ll Need:

        * Sugar

        * Lemon juice

        * Cloth strips (like muslin or leftover material that is a little stiff)

        * Stove

        * Sauce pan

        * A popsicle stick or ice cream scoop (the wood disposable ones)

    1-  In the saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of water.

    2-  Heat the mix in the pan to a boil (you can see bubbles in it). Let it boil for 8-15 minutes. If you've ever made candy, you want it to get to the "soft ball" stage. You can test this by dropping a bit of the sugar mix into a cup of cool water. If it feels like a gummy ball in the water, then you're at the right stage.

    3-  Pour the mix into a disposable container and allow it to cool. You must be careful not to use it when it's too hot! If it gets too cool, you can always use the microwave to soften it again.

    4-  While the mix is cooling, cut your fabric into strips. Ideally, you should cut them about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long (but there's no need to measure them precisely!)

    5-  Take a mild pain reliever such as an ibuprofen about an hour before you want to wax your bikini. If you are a bikini wax veteran who doesn’t feel much discomfort during a spa visit, you may want to skip this step.

    6-  Clean and dry the area that you want to wax, making sure that it is free of any lotion. If necessary, apply a little baby powder to the region to absorb any sweat. If the hair that you want to remove is over a centimetre or half an inch long, you may want to trim it a little bit with a pair of nail scissors.

    7- Apply the wax with the applicator to the bikini line in the same direction as your hair growth. Smooth a strip down on top of the wax that you have just applied. If you are using pre-waxed plastic strips, smooth the strip onto the area where you want to remove your hair in the same direction that your hair is growing.

    8-  Pull your skin with one hand so that the area covered by the strip is taut. You will lessen the pain of waxing if your skin does not get pulled up when you remove the strip.

    9-  Still holding your skin firmly with one hand, grasp the end of the strip that you have applied and pull it quickly off of your skin. You should be pulling in the opposite direction in which you applied the strip, against the direction of hair growth. Also make sure that you do not pull the strip up, but that your hand remains close to your skin at all times.

    10-  Repeat steps four to six above until you have removed all the hair along your bikini line to your satisfaction. Tweeze any stray hairs that were not removed with the wax. Apply the oil that came with your kit to the bikini area to remove any residual wax. If your bikini area is feeling tender after the waxing, you may wish to soothe it by applying some aloe vera gel.
