  1. anaid27, I've found a nice directory of restaurants that might help. You can drill down the New York results by cities nearby to you. If you call nearby restaurants you can narrow down wich one would work best for you. http://www.restaurantreviewsratings.com/...

  2. Virgils BBQ around Times Square is pretty affordable.  Uncle Nick's on 9th is a cheap Greek place.  There is always Sbarro.  You do realize you picked the wrong town to scrimp on food, right?

  3. Acme Bar & Grill, located at 9 Great Jones Street (which is also 4th Street), located between Broadway and Lafayette in Soho. Owned by a transplanted Southerner, they serve pretty decent southern food like crab cakes, fried shrimp, cornbread, etc. Best thing on the menu is the corn on the cob, which is roasted on a grill then coated in cheese and pepper... Yum!

Casual place, reservations not necessary but it can get kinda crowded at dinner time! Also, there's a nightclub in the basement often with live music. This is one of my favorite places.

  4. Cafe Centro located within Grand Central in the Met Life building is one recommendation. Also consider Da Ciro located at 229 Lexington Ave between East 33 and 34 Street.

Both are in good central locations and easy to get to.

  5. In Greenwich Village, Bianca's on Bleecker and the Bowery - Very good Italian food - prices are excellent - I don't think they have anything over $15.

Celeste, on the Upper West Side on Amsterdam and 84th - great bargain - excellent Italian food - prices are very reasonable - nothing more than $15, service is pleasant - a  really nice place.

Or, just take her for a three course meal of desserts at Chikalicious in the East Village on 10th Street and Second Avenue

La Bonne Soup has great soups, omelets, salads.  Meals are very reasonable and a lot of them come with a glass of wine.  If you go here, see if you can get one of the tables on the outside "balcony" - great people watching.
