Question:

Need recommendations of some vegan dog treats, thanks!

I am a professional dog trainer and have a client whose dog has severe allergies to certain animal products (some meats, eggs and dairy are not okay). Until the allergies are ruled out specifically, we need to find training treats that won't give her dog a reaction.

Would appreciate any and all recommendations! :)

  2. Hi! Here are some basic vegan dog treats:

    Vegan Dog Treat Recipe

    9 cups whole wheat flour

    1 cup nutritional yeast

    1 Tbsp. salt

    1 Tbsp. garlic powder

Mix dry ingredients. Add approximately 3 cups water. Knead into a pliable dough. Roll out to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 350°F. (Important: After turning off oven, leave biscuits in the oven overnight or for an 8-hour period so they become hard and crunchy.)

    Pizzas for the Pupperonis

If you're planning to serve these at a puppy party, ask your favorite pizza restaurant for a clean pizza box to serve them in.

1 cup whole wheat pastry flour

    1 cup cornmeal

    3/4 cup nutritional yeast

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/2 teaspoon oregano

    1/2 teaspoon basil

    3 tablespoons olive oil

    1 tablespoon tomato paste

    3/4 cup water

    2 tablespoons tomato paste

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a large bowl combine flour, cornmeal, yeast, garlic, oregano, and basil. Mix.

Add oil, 1 tbsp. tomato paste, and water. Mix.

Roll dough out to 1/4" thickness on cornmeal dusted surface. Place rounds on a cookie sheet.

Cut into circles using a cookie cutter or the edge of a drinking glass.

In a cup, combine the olive oil and 2 tbsp tomato paste.

With a spoon, spread a teensy bit of the tomato paste mixture onto each round, like pizza sauce.

For small dogs, cut each "pizza" into 4 wedges.

    Bake 25 minutes.
