I can't believe it, I've lost my passport and my driver's license in a strange city (I'm in Australia). Do you know what I can do to get replacement id as fast as possible, as I need to move on etc.?

  1. Find out where you can get passport photos and have several taken. Then go to the nearest embassy/consulate and tell them your situation. If you have a photo copy of the front page of your passport they should give you a temporary one. or perhaps if you have your visa you can be looked up in the system somehow.

  2. Report it to your Embassy in Canberra immediately, and ask them what needs to be done.  If you've got ongoing travel arrangements they might provide temporary ID.  Then report it to the Australian police.

Replacement photos can be made at, generally, any Post Office or photo shop.

  3. Well first of all, you need to report your items missing, so go to the local Police Station, and they will have you fill out a lost/stolen report... Once that is done, they will tell you from there on what you will need to do...
