I have a 4yrs old son and a soon to be 3 yrs old boy. It seems like every night I am changing one of their bed sheets.

Do you have a rule about what time they stop drinking at night? I still allow them to drink some water before bed. I think now I should make a rule of no more drinking after 6. I am just afraid that they will be thirsty.

  1. Unfortunately, drinking right before bed is usually not the only culprit. It is something that he will just have to grow out of.

You can't take away someones water--that's kind of cruel because they might actually be thirsty.

What I can tell you to do is find out some information about big kid "diapers" that they can sleep in until the problem goes away, and invest in a mattress pad that will protect your mattress.

  2. Soem children can't help it...especially boys.  Limiting drinking after 6 is fine...but I've read that their bladder isn't big enough some times.  They have good nites underpants to help with the bed wetting.  My son is 3-1/2 and fully potty trained...but he goes into such a deep sleep that he doesn't feel the urger to get up and go pee.

  3. wake them before you go to bed don't  just lift them wake them and put them on the toilet  no drinks an hour before bed is a good idea and make them go to the toilet before bed

  4. At this point, they should probably still be in pull-ups, even if they are fully trained during the day.  Children this age are often very deep sleepers, and cannot wake themselves up when they have to go.

But that having been said, I also think that making a rule of no drinking after 6:00 PM would help them begin to stay dry at night.   It's very likely that within the next year, they will start waking up dry, and you'll be done with all this.  But in the meantime, the pull-ups will save a lot of time and work.

  5. Why dont you use pull ups? No drinking after 6 is also good. Boys are far slower than girls to develop in this way, especially for night dryness.

  6. i did it this way and had success, no drinks after 7pm, tv till 8pm , toilet, wake up at 10.30pm for toilet , wake up again midnight again for toilet, it trained his body had a few accidents in between but took only a few weeks , when you wake him keep lights to a minimum no conversation then he'l just pop back into bed .. good luck

  7. 6 is a good time to have them stop drinking. Have them go potty right before bed. Some parents wake up their children before they go to bed also and have them go again.

  8. HOLDING THE FLUIDS AFTER A CERTIN TIME IS OK.  YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO TRY WAKING THEM DURING THE NIGHT AT CERTIN TIMES AND TAKING THEM TO THE POTTY.  IT MAY BE HARD ON YOU AT FIRST BUT IT MAY HELP TRAIN THEM TO GET UP AND GO POTTY IF THEY NEED TO.  YOU MAY ALSO CONCIDER A BEDWETTING ALARM...SEE THE LINK I HAVE POSTED UNDER MY SOURCES.

  9. tell them to pee before bed.

don't let them drink anything during the night.

  10. The pull-up thing is a good idea and using them along with mother ducks suggesting to wake them up at certain hours of the night would save you alot of laundry. The drinking thing I don't think has alot to do with it. I have tried that with my bed wetter and I could cut her off at 6 and make her go to the bathroom and then go before bed and she would still wet in the bed. Some kids are really heavy sleepers and that might be why they are not waking up in the night. But do try the pull ups i know they cost alot especially if you have 2 but that will save you alot of time doing laundry. Good luck!!

  11. Some kids bladder dosent mature like others. Do what you have to do to protect the material things.Whats more important is if it continues, how your son will feel about it. My son was about 8 before it stopped. Just have to keep reassuring him it will stop and it eventually will.
