It is for the Men against domestic violence org I am into a lot of organizations at my local college but we are a smaller school and funding is lacking. I was trying to think of some ideas for getting some money rounded up for a good cause (reducing rape, domestic violence,) I have done some work with a book which was great but I wanna reach out to people young and old age doesn't concern me too much not just kids around my age. We often visit schools HS and Middle, Have some really odd ideas as well like "Walk in there shoes" it was so hard to find those shin high black boots in a 13 lol, Just talked to some friends about a concert, The V mono's were GREAT, Just ANYTHING you guys and gals can come up with. Being a very touchy subject please respect it, thats really all I ask.

  1. Raffles are great, maybe a chemist could donate some cosmetics, perfumes and creams, sunglasses etc.

How about a teddy bear pic nic, at my granddaughters  school we have Art Weekend- its an art gallery each year. How about Art Men and women and feature artists from all walks of life hold it in a hall and have wine and cheese and charge $15 a head. You also can charge the artists as well to hang their works

phtography display and charge photographers a fee and also an entry fee to view the photos - you would be amazed at the different themes that will appear

A trivia night is alway good speak to a venue and charge $20 a person have groups at tables and get donations for prizes

  2. try selling $50 worth of coupons($5.00 ea. bus.-10 bus. total.) for local businesses and sell the sheet of them together for $5.00. print your flyer with info on the front and either print the coupons on back if you can or on a seperate sheet. then you are done when you sell it- no more paper work or follow up.

  3. You could do a Karaoke contest.  Ask a karaoke DJ to donate their time, charge an entrance fee, sell refreshments, make it a family themed night.  also good, a lot of restaurants will do a night where you pass out flyers to people, ask them to go to the restaurant on a certain night and everyone who eats there and has one of your flyers, the restaurant donates 20% of their sales.  Portrait studios will do a thing where you give people coupons to get a free 8X10 picture, but you get a percentage of any package they buy over the 8X10.  If you're near a Baker's Square, they do a pie fundraiser where you sell coupons for pie (the buyer gets a whole pie for $10 which is great), and you get to keep a portion of that.  I would also like to suggest that you partner with the closest Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis agency and get involved with them.  I say this because they may have some ideas that are specific to your area and some of the things you may want to do may go better if you have the backing of a known agency that has nonprofit status.  It shows people that you're serious and that you are dealing with people who know what they're talking about.  also, it keeps you from inadvertantly stepping on any toes and will make some of your efforts a little easier because you can take advantage of the structures they may already have in place.  Good luck and good for you for standing up for what you believe in!  We need more men to speak out like you are!  God bless you!
