Need some Ideas for my School Environmental Club?

I am a leader of my school Environmental Club and I need help w/some ideas(fun and educational). My committe is Waste Reduction and any ideas will be greatly appreciated :)

  1. Okay, I'll throw out a thought on waste reduction.

    The first thing that comes to my mind is recycling.  My family was recycling long before it became politically correct.  The reason for that is not just because it was good for the environment, but it is cheaper!  Think about it, have you/your parents bought anything made with recycled materials?  It's cheaper, because they use the recylced stuff to make new packaging, instead of making it all new.  So here's an idea for your club.  Have a scavenger hunt, where people are looking for the prices of groceries that are in packaging made from recycled and non-recycled materials.  Have a mixed list of recycled and non-recyled materials that groups need to get the price for.  Give them one hour in a grocery store to look, and don't ask the cashiers the prices.  At the end you can compare the price tags for both and see how waste reduction impacts the prices of groceries you might use everyday.
