  1. It really depends on how serious you are. If you are just playing to have fun and try to get a little better, i would say any kind of bargain womens set of clubs would do you fine. If you want to improve a lot and take it very serious but dont have the money, try buying a used set of name brand womens clubs (taylormade and callaway have good women clubs) As far as tryouts, it really depends on how good your school's team is. For most girls teams anything under 50 for nine holes should be plenty good. However if your schools program isnt very strong, anything under 60 could be good enough. Goodluck and work hard.

  2. Looking back many years ago to my high school days I would say this:

    1.  Why are you trying out for the golf team?   You say you like it but you are a just took up the sport.  Nothing wrong with that but do you want to play golf or be on the team.  If you aren't ready you would have much more fun just playing by yourself especially if you have a very competitive team.

    2.  Does everyone make the team or do people get cut?  If you get cut, how will you feel?  (Remember Michael Jordan was get his first year in high school)

    3.  If you want to pursue golf (I hope you do) buy a complete (NOT EXPENSIVE SET) of woman's club for the following reasons:  a.  You might just be in a phase but soon you will not play golf or b.  You might really pursue it and until you are very good, a cheap new set should do you very well.  The same holds true for golf balls - only 2 or 3% of all golfers are good enough to get the maximum use of golf balls so buy cheap ones in case you lose some  (we all lose them).

    4.  If you try out, fight like h**l, don't give up regardless how things are going.  Golf is a mental sport so think positive and if you make the team congratulations.  If you don't make the team, practice practice practice.   When are good at that then work on perfect practice.  Good luck.

  3. im not good with naming clubs but some advice for tryouts.  Just go out there and have fun don't be one of those pricks that are all serious and are no fun to play with
