I've been working in a supermarket for about 5 weeks now. Im only tempory until september but so far i've had 3 days off. The first was due to sickness. Then last week i changed some days and it was all agreed with the supervisor. I was meant to go back to work on the friday but when i got home on the thursday night i fell over and cut my forehead. I went to hospital on the friday then popped into work to say the doctors said not to go in. They complained about it but there was nothing i could really do. Anyway me and my mum had a bit of an argument on thursday morning before i was meant to go to work and she really upset me and i stupidly didnt go into work they phoned my house but i didnt answer and didnt phone them back because i really ddnt know what to say. They havent phoned me since is that a good sign?If they were gona sack me wouldnt they have asked me to go straight in for a meeting? I really dont want to risk losing this job. i know of should of gone in but what can i say tomorrow when my next shift is? As im tempory do you think they will sack me or just tell me when september comes they arent willing to give me a perm contract? I dont know what to say to them on saturday why i wasnt in. Should i say that i had to go to hospital about my head? like a last minute thing? I know its a lie but i dont know what else to say because i know if i just say i was ill or something they will say its not good enough.Need some ideas! My sister also works in the store and she said today they didnt ask her anything about me. She said if it was bad they would of asked her where i was?

  1. I'd say future employment at this supermarket for you doesn't look good at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they just stopped scheduling you altogether -- do you have a current schedule through Sept?  You might want to discuss your situation with the supervisor when you go in tomorrow.  I kind of think them not calling you any more means they might not be interested.  Was thursday a no call, no show by the way?

Guess you'll find out more tomorrow.  If by chance they keep you on, don't blow it from now through Sept- show up promptly for each and every shift without  fail,  and hopefully they'll offer you a permanent job.

    Good luck.

  2. just go see the manager and admit the events that have played havoc with attendance........tell him that this is not your style.......it was all stuff beyond your control.......tell him you need the job and will make every effort to fulfill your scheduled obligation
