  1. Fishers is a great seafood restaurant, there is one in town, and there is Fishers by the shore which is in Leith.

Also there is a new seafood restaurant called Loch Fynne which is by the harbour in Newhaven, I have not been there yet as it has just opened this week, but it is in a lovely setting by the harbour.

Other restaurants that I personally like are.....

San Marco. Stockbridge,    great italian atmosphere and good food. and reasonably priced.

Timsdad will prob come on and tell you that the witchery is great, and he would be right, but it is very expensive, definitely one for a special occasion.

The buffalo grill is good, and you can take your own bottle.

Doing this list has made me realise that i personally don't think that the best restaurants are in central Edinburgh, and the best ones that i have been to have been on the outskirts, one being the Longniddry Inn in Longniddry, that is a great place to go to the meals are fab by, and the portions are huge, and if you can manage it... the desserts are scrum my!!

and there are lots more but not Central.

  2. As some have already said Fishers is superb, but there is also Creelers in the town centre (just off the high street - http://www.creelers.co.uk/ ). Been there on the Dine Around menu and loved it. In fact it is the only restaurant I will entertain that close to the high street.

If you want shellfish there is also the Mussle Inn on Rose Street and the spin off Mussle and Steak Place by the bottom of the Grassmarket. I think they do some fish dishes but I never look that much further than their Mussles and Scallops lol

So there are a few central places, but there are plenty of excellent places outwith the centre as too much there is tourist orientated.

  3. Petite Paris on the grass market across from the hotel apex international?fab just a small place but the foods brill

  4. Great place in Leith.  I believe it's called "The Waterfront".  I had excellent oysters there.  They specialize in seafood.

  5. Fishers Bistro is a must if you are wanting to dine at a restaurant that specializes in seafood. The food is great with a good wine selection, friendly staff but still reasonably priced. I have not been for a while because i prefer Italian but i have still read some great reviews.

  6. If you want central Edinburgh, then try The Patio in Hanover Street.  It is an Italian thatdoes plenty of fish specials.  (I was in just the other night and had sardines dipped in flour and pan-fried.  Lovely.)  They always have a long list of seafood specials, that usually includes oysters, mussels, prawns, sea-bass, sardines, anchovies, tuna and swordfish (among others)
