Need some help with a "Grilled Oysters" recipe.

I plan to make the following for my fiance for dinner tomorrow:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_37183,00.html

In the recipe, it says: Place the washed oyster shells on a baking sheet and top each shell with 1 oyster......Place the oysters on the preheated grill and cook until the oysters are just cooked through, curled around the edges and the butter is melted and bubbly, 4 to 6 minutes.

Can I just put the oyster half directly on the grill, or is it better to put the half shell underneath the oyster itself? And, do I have to use a baking sheet, or can I use one of those perforated grilling sheet (like the one used for making grilled veggies and such)?

I'm mostly a novice when it comes to cooking, so any advice is appreciated!

  1. Put them on the half shell. And really you don't need a pan ,just set them on the grill and cook away, that's what I do.

  2. Just to make sure I understand you, I'll start from the beginning. Take a whole oyster, and open it with your oyster knife. Try not to spill the juices that are inside the oyster. Take the half of the shell that still has the oyster in it, and use your knive to slide under the oyster meat and cut it free from the shell. This makes it easy to slurp it directly from the shell when it is finished. You can place the oyster, still in the shell, directly on the grill bars and cook it. The shell will act like a saute pan and transfer heat to the oyster flesh.

  3. u can put the oyster in the half shell directly on the grill
