Ok, I downloaded a free trial for this aircraft and have a few questions:

1. How do you start the engines (manual, not by hitting ctrl+e)?

2. The lcd display panels are black. How can I turn them on?

3. The yoke seems to be locked. Is there a way to unlock it?

4. How long does the trial last?

As you probably can see, im new to this and just learn as I go along, so please explain these things in the simplest terms you can. Thanks!

  1. Well, because I am aware (from the realistic detail of the stuff) that you have to do it the exact same way its done in real life...that is by using your mouse to click on the relevant controls and switches, while using the "hat switch" on your joystick to look around the cockpit.

    Procedure>

    1. Turn on APU

       a. Keep an eye on temp (to see hot-start before it strikes).

       b. Ensure its cranking at normal idle speed before "applying load".

    2. With APU supplying electricity, use it to fill airpacks with enough air.

    3. Setup isolation valves and bleed air so that airpacks can "blow".

------------------------- START ONE ENGINE AT A TIME -------------------------

    1. Start with engine that operates airconditioning system so people are comfy.

    2. Keep its fuel cutoff lever to "off" and select "Start" for airpacks to "blow" compressed air to engine starter to start spinning the jet engine.

    5. Keep eye on rising N1/N2 rpm; at 757's proper N1/N2 speed, set cutoff lever from "off" to "on" so that fuel gets across. This procedure helps avoid "hot-starts" and ensures a clean ignition.

    6. Monitor rising EGT (engine temp); make sure its not getting hot too fast or too slow until it reaches idle.

    7. Repeat steps above for other engine. I've read that it ain't good to start both engines at the same time (I guess due to double monitoring...extra pilot workload on delicate starting process).
