Need some help writng a thank you letter for a temporary Job?

Just needed some pointers and how to word a thank you letter to the local school board in my district...I was temporarily employed as an education assistant for developmentally delayed individuals. I think a thank you letter will keep me in their minds so when a permenent position is available they will give me a call. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work within your special needs department. I have been able to experiance many things that I will be able to use in the future.  It was a great opportunity and I am glad I was able to take advantage of it.
