I'm not from Florida,I just flew in from NYC. My brother was in a car accident and he was a passenger! My brother was put in a coma but he just woke up a few days ago. he's getting better every day but may need some therapy. Earlier today I got a call from the driver's insurance company asking us about my brother's insurance stating that they will give my brother $20k. My family and I do not want any extra money we just want his hospital bills and any treatment covered! My family is a bit confused and since I'm not from the area I'm not 100% sure what to do but we will be contacting an attorney in the morning. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  1. Try to have as much information as you could perhaps is one of the options, however it is labor consuming, here is the place i have ever had good experience with.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca...

  2. Florida is a no fault state, so the first policy your brother has to file a claim under, is his own.

But your instincts are right - that's WAY too fast to try to settle a claim.  Keep in mind, however, that they aren't going to pay more than the policy limit.  And you're probably looking at some big bucks right now, for the hospital bills - it's highly likely the other guy doesn't have enough limit to cover.

  3. get a lawyer and talk things over with him.

I personally would not accept an offer without knowing what his full medical bills are going to be.

  4. Don't do a thing until you can get some proper legal advice.  Unless you have power of attorney for your brother, you can't legally do anything or make any deals with the insurance company anyway.  The insurance company will just have to wait.  This sounds serious, the insurance company knows it is serious and They are trying to make a quick settlement to save themselves some money.  Tell them they will have to wait until they hear from his lawyer.
