Need some recommendations please!?

im looking for a car that's like...Mazda5/Mazda 3 sport for example....but i need some brand recommendations please. im looking for something that is afforable (currently a college student) & safe at same time.

btw, what is your view about the mercury mariner?

The freshened 2008 Mariner has curtain air bags and standard stability control, except on the hybrid.

Lows: Extremely long braking distances, fit and finish.

The new mariner has improved ride and fuel economy, but handling and braking capabilities have decreased.

The Honda CR-V is the best vehicle in this field.

Mazda is not a great car at all.  Mercury is also not a good car.  If you need something cheap, you should look at a Honda Civic.  when you are looking at cost you need to look at repair cost as well and a Honda just does not break down.

If you want Brand Options to the MAZDA3 then here's few with no particular order.

Toyota Matrix - Expensive but safe & Stands out

Scion XB - Very popular with College Students.

Pontiac Vibe - Matrix under GM hood safe & cheap. Great Discounts going on.

Dodge Caliber - Nice crossover safe & good options. Remember it inherits Chrysler's flaws.

08 Hyundai Accent Hatchback - Good car overall. Good Price.
