I really like the name Roy for a boy (hah, that rhymed, but anyway...), but I think it sounds too simple to just name a kid Roy.

I like Leroy, with Roy as a nickname, but it sounds a little bit hillbilly to me. I like it pronounced Le-roy (not Lee-Roy) like it is in French (it comes from the French le roy, meaning "the king"), but I don't think that people will pronounce it right, so he would always be called "LEE-roy".

I also like Royal, but I think it's a bit much to go and call my kid Royal.

So what do you think? And do you have any suggestions for a name that could have Roy as a nickname?

  1. Royan

Royle (so it doesnt look like royal)

    Elroy

  2. Royce is an english name - it means from famous kin.

  3. Conroy, perhaps.

  4. Royce, definitely!

  5. I'm with the guy who said Royce

  6. Royal is a nice name and so is Roy. Nothing wrong with those names.  Leroy is also a last name, so I think Roy and Royal is a better choice.

  7. How about Elroy or Fautleroy

  8. Royston

  9. I know a lot of fellows whose name is Royal!  Of course, they're older - like in their 50s+, but I don't think it's a stretch to name him Royal, I have certainly heard plenty with that name.

  10. Ronald, maybe? Umm idk maybe just Roy?

  11. why don't you have his middle name Roy and name his first name something else.  Then you could just call him by that name

  12. cory, rikky, idk much my neighbors name is roy but thats his real name so idk
