Need some suggestions for leg exercises?

To make it a little bit more specific:

I'm a swimmer. My legs are powerful when I'm running, but strangely weak when I'm in the water. When I kick (freestyle) as hard as I can, I'm going at about the pace my friends go at when they're kicking semi-casually.

What exercises or stretches do you suggest I do for a better kick and leg strength?

  1. Lunges with the weights


  2. Try the elliptical. I use it everyday. My legs are very strong.
