I am going fishing in my local pond later on today. I know for sure that they have perch, texas blues, and things of that nature in there. What are some other baits that I can use besides worms in case I run out. Any help is appreciated.

  1. chimps (above) has got the skivvy, adding only crickets will get eaten as well and are cheap. They are feeders for reptiles available at most all pet stores..

  2. The first thing you need to do is get hold of some more baits. The way you do this is to use some of the worms you have to catch perch. Keep a few of the larger perch for the catfish. Catch smaller perch ( about the size of a regular business card) and keep them alive in a bucket for the bass. Take a handful of mixed perch jigs (A.K.A. crappie jigs) so that when you do run out of worms you can still catch the perch.  It's like a big circle but you are optimizing your chances by using the bait you have and what's available in the water. Quick tip: Cut the perch in half to use as bait for the catfish or use fillets.~good luck catchin'.

  3. Perch are cannibal in nature and will eat smaller perch. Suspending perch colored crankbaits catch alot of perch and other species. They also go for floating minnow baits like Rapalas. The small plastic grubs & tube baits are also a good choice and catch a variety of fish. Good luck today!

  4. grubs not the real things the lure that you put on your hook, or flys grasshoppers, but for lures you can use the grups even plastic worms, if you want something simple
