Ok to make a long story short my --EX-- bf stole my credit card last year. The company took his 'purchases' off for about 4 months. Then decided it was my fault he figured out my PIN so put them back on my new account. I'm a college student and I really want to get it paid off so I can have good credit. I have my own personal card and cannot get enough of a credit increase to transfer my balance. I do not have horrible credit, I'd say average. But with it being so close to my credit limit its hard to get another card. I'm looking for a card I can transfer both cards to, with a low APR, even if its only for a short period of time (12 months). Any suggestions?? My total balance is $3000. Which isn't that much but I just want to get rid of it! Please help. My current cards are Cap.1 and Citi, so those are out of the ? ...

  1. Personally, I use Chase Student Card for minimum purchases just to get and maintain my credit. Other than that I use a debit/ credit card because I hate to carry cash around. If you can though make most of your purchases with cash and only use credit for things that you know you will be able to afford.

  2. Well, generally if you can't get increase of credit limit with your current credit companies, then you won't get much more from other issuers. Especially if you have quite some balance on those cards. You will probably have to get yourself a few more cards with low or 0% APR and toss your balances over to the new accounts. At least you'll save in interest. Getting all on one account will probably be impossible. Although, you can always try.

Here's a site with cool 0% and low interest credit cards: http://www.creditcardmix.com .

    Wishing you all the best!

  3. Cancel all your credit cards and pay cash for everything, it can be done even by college students (I am one).  Learn about and read Dave Ramsey and live on cash.

  4. Don't use credit cards! They are bad news! My advice, pay off what you owe, cancel the cards and then get a low low low limit card that's about $300 and use it rarely and always pay on time with it to build your credit. The commercial about free credit reports where the guy is singing about meeting his dream girl and now living in his parents basement instead or being a bachelor with a dog, well, that's me and my husband now! He swears that is his story! Good luck! Credit is screwy!
