  1. in the goody bag put a bandana

                  ideas

pin the tail on the horse

have western music in the back round

have a camp fire like in the old days

ask a neighbor or a horse bording to borrow a horse for the kids to ride

  2. GET A PIN THE TAIL ON THE DONKEY, THOSE ARE FUN! SERIOUSLY.

    DECORATIONS:

    LASSOS OR ROPE

GET COWBOY HATS AT A PARTY STORE.

    MAYBE RENT A PONY?

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. Play pin the tail on the steer/lizard/cow/horse/etc.

    Have a tumbleweed race (somersaults).

    Have a roping contest

    Learn some cowboys trail songs

Make up a game with water guns...if you're going to be outside.

Draw pictures of western things (cowboy hats, horses, wagon, etc) with eyes closed or on books on their heads.

Play a ring toss game on a cactus (you could make one from paper mache')

Use the materials for the games as decorations until they're needed.

Hope that gives you some ideas!

  4. Go to your local art supply or fabric store. (Hobby Lobby?) They usually have some cheap bandannas and cowboy hats ( less than $1 a piece).

You can make name tags/place tags by using some yellow construction paper and cutting it into sherriff badges. You have some great ideas already!

For some party games you could play pin the tail on the horse, get a few brooms out of the closet ( or if you have the money buy a toy broomstick horse, it can be one of his presents) and have the kids get on it, spin around and complete a course of running in a figure eight around a few points on the floor. Time them, and the fastest one wins.

You could fill a cowboy themed pinata with some cheap candy and horses from a local dollar store.

You can make a fake (or real) campfire and have the kids tell campfire stories and sing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe." (Its fun and alot of Boy scout/girl scout troops sing it at their camps) http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/ragtime... - you can hear it and see the lyrics there.
