It's been a few hours since my sons last feeding and my b*****s are already feeling engorged. I tried to feed him but he wont wake up so I'm not sure what to do.

  1. If your baby is under six weeks, i personally would be waking him for a feed.

Otherwise, express a little and use some warm face cloths.

  2. Try pumping to get some relief, if you don't have a pump, go to the bathroom, lean over the sink or the tub or whatever is more comfortable and gently massage until you let down, it shouldn't be too hard if you're engorged.  I feel bad for you, I remember the feeling.  Just try to release a little pressure before baby wakes up.  If you have trouble getting your milk to flow, close your eyes and concentrate hard on your baby, his smell, his sounds, imagine him breastfeeding, your let down will come really fast this way.  Just a trick I used to use.  Applying cool washcloths helped me with the discomfort too.  Good luck!

  3. if you dont have a pump, you can wake him up - you can do so by changing his diaper (the cold wipes always help).

  4. express your milk into bottles.

  5. try expessing some milk by hand if you dont have a pump, until your b*****s feel ok. Dont worry about 'wasting' your milk, it will repenish.

I dont know how old your son is, but they say that until a baby is six weeks old you should wake him if he sleeps thru a feed but after that the golden rule is ' never wake a sleeping baby'.

  6. I honestly would wake the baby and nurse if you don't have a pump

  7. Don't wake him he will probably wake up soon! If he falls asleep while your feeding him pinch his nose for a second he will wake up and start sucking again! But only if you think he hasn't had enought to eat!

  8. me too!!

do you have a pump.. a bottle..

a warm shower... to get the milk out

a cabbage leaf for ten minutes to relieve

  9. Go to the  bathroom and drain off (or pump) enough to make you feel ok.  DON'T wake the baby..  He'll let you know when to feed him.  If he tries to go more than 8 hours call pediatrician.  I woke my baby up and she doesn't sleep through the night now at 20 months, nor has she ever! OH! -to go back in time!
