Question:

Need to cure my kittens of lice?

Just used a bob martin flea and tick spot on for my 2 kittens (4 months old) but now realise they have lice, not fleas. I obviously want to help them but do not want to overdose them if I use a different medication. What can I do?

  1. We use Adams Flea shampoo at the vet I work at and I think you can purchase it at any pet store (blue bottle, red top).  I am not familiar with bob martin flea medication so I would contact your vet to ask if it is safe.  If that isn't an option try calling the bob martin company.  Lice isn't difficult to get rid of, its species specific so it will not live on anything other than cats.

  2. Phone your vet. Cats don't often get lice, and young kittens need to be carefully medicated--your vet will know what's safe for them.
