I'm got an off white slipcover. I'd like to dye it very, very white. Should I got to a professional? If so, who should I ask? Or should I just bleach it. The fiber is cotton/polyester.

  1. You can bleach out the cotton but the polyester will not change color. The color in polyester is part of the molecular structure.

The bleach will weaken the fabric too.

If you love the slip cover, take it to your local dry cleaners and ask them to try to whiten the fabric.

If you do not mind possibly ruining the slip cover, then toss it in to you washing machine with extra bleach.

Fill the washer with warm water first, add at least 4 cups of bleach, let the washer agitate for a few minutes to mix the water and bleach, and then add you slip cover.

Rinse the slip cover at least twice before drying it.

I hope you get the results you want!
