Need to find a good dirt bike for begginer?

Question

Im 13 years old and 5' 10 and weigh about 135. Im interested in riding motocross, what would be a good bike for me? This will be my first. I was thinking of a yz125 but are there any good 2007 or 2008 125cc 4 strokes for mx? The only 125cc 4 strokes I can find are all trail bikes.Thanks.

P.S. it doesn't have to be 125cc, but it should be in that range and be able to fit my size, I know I am tall for my age.

since it's your first bike look at the crf150R. They are great fast bikes with a bit less hit than a 125 mxer.

There are no 125 4 stroke race bikes. A 125 2 stroke would be okay but a 250 4 stroke would be much better and they both race in the same class. 4 strokes are the present and future of motocross. I've had to spend the last 2 years re-learning how to ride in many aspects after making the switch to 4 strokes. I don't know why anyone would want to start racing a 2 stroke at this point in motocross only to have to change your riding style when you finally realize you cannot win on a 2 stroke.

im 14 and about 5'11 ... so this might help out since i am around same age and hieght and weight..about 135... I ride a yz 125 and love it, only i have rode other 250 four strokes and two strokes and they would kill a 125 anyday out of any corrner... your not gonna find a 125 four stroke thats a race bike and the trail bikes are a lot smaller and would not really suite you for how tall you are...i would say a yz 125 would be nice for you because they have more power than other 125's and jumping right onto a 250 could be dangerous and maybe a little too much power... i hope this helps..

A 125ccc 4 stroke would be too small for someone of your height so perhaps stick with the 2 stroke.  The yz is a good bike but perhaps you should consider the kx125 as they are a bit more forgiving to ride on a beginner.  You are also right that the 125cc 4 strokes like the ttr125 and klx125 are trail bikes and really not suited to motocross.
