Need to find a job but got no work history for the last 5 years and no references?? (UK)?

I am 30 years old and have been playing online poker for the last 5 years so therefore have no work history at all for that time and no references. I am reluctant to say what ive been doing as employers will not be impressed with what i have been doing. Any ideas or help?

u cud say that u just had time off, or was self employed or  tell them the situation and reassure them it will not get in the way of your job.

Join an employment agency and be willing to do anything, driving is always a good option. Very soon you will have experience of several employers and be able to talk yourself into a proper job. Good luck.

Easy, say you worked at a company which has now closed down. There's no way they can check referneces as the firm has shut and you threw away all your pay slips. I used that one many times.

You could get a part time telesales job for a start, while you figure out what you are doing. Most telesales take on people without even interviewing.

inherited money so you have been travelling?? could be difficult if they ask you in details about your travels though - best i could think of though

you could say you were looking after someone who was ill.
