  1. I would recommend NOT waiting until you get to the UK to buy an adaptor! I've travelled many times to several countries and the adaptors are NOT easy to find at all. Best to buy before you go.

Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and especially any store that has travel gear will have what you need. You can pick several types, including a "universal" model that will work in several countries.

You also need to take special notice of what you are bringing. The UK uses 220v, in the US it's 115v. Some electronics like laptops have adaptors that can use multiple voltages, so all you need to to  is adapt the plug; however other devices need a "converter" that also change the voltage too. This VERY important since you can destroy the device or even start a fire if you don't pay attention to it. Also note that those converters will not work with all kinds of devices either.

But look in the travel (luggage) section at Wal Mart - they sell universal sets.

  3. Many stores have travel adapters.  They're kits that change the 220 VAC European to 110 VAC for US devices as well as contain the adapters for the various plug configurations.  You can find them at Radio Shack, WalMart, JC Penney, almost any store with a luggage section, and of course travel stores.

  4. Wal-Mart has them. The "PowerLine Global Power Travel Voltage Converter" is $20:
