For the activity I'm doing, I have to build a container for a 12 ounce soda can. The teacher will pour hot boiling water into the soda can. The can will be inserted into the container, but the container has to reduce the loss of thermal energy from the can. I can't use a pre-made container, and the insulation can't be thicker than 2.5 inches. What material should I use? Help me in any way that you can.

  1. just use styrophome. cut out the outline of the can on 2 pieces of thick styrophome, glue the 2 sides together and shave off till it's 2 inches. then take a thin plastic and cover the styrophome.
