Need to find travel insurance -- help!?

My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon to Jamaica in October and we need to get travel insurance. We'll be there from 10/6-10/13. We are flying with United/US Airways, which is part of the reason we want insurance (in the event of a cancelled flight). Mostly we are just looking for something that will protect our trip/costs in the event that something is cancelled or delayed or something (not necessarily travel medical insurance). I've been looking at the various travel insurance sites and comparing plans/prices, but I have no idea what I'm looking for. I know if a price is too much or not, but as far as coverage I want/need/etc. I'm clueless. Help!!!

  1. I have had my experiences with TIC travel insurance and I was not bloody content about it. Our company that supplied the airline tickets became bankrupt. (But we got home safely). Afterwards, we phoned the insurance company and they WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE AIRLINE TICKETS. Our insurance was the fully covered insurance (medical, accidents, loss of luggage..etc). They WOULDN'T PAY FOR THOSE EITHER. They explained that if you had other companies that cover this insurance then they wouldn't pay, thus why would you buy this insurance? Say if you bought 2 insurances and only one payed cause the other one noticed that you had two so they wouldn't pay, do you think that's fair? You payed for two insurances but you only had one. Aren't you supposed to get two? It's like two people bet that if you were injured then they would give you $300, but you have only received $150 because person A said that person B already gave you $150, so he wouldn't give you the $150.

  2. I have been using travelex for many years, you can get a free quote here:   http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index....

  3. The types of coverage that you want to look for are contained in "package" travel insurance plans and are:

trip cancellation: in case you have to cancel the trip due to the specific covered reasons listed in the policy.  Only those covered reasons that are listed are valid.

trip interruption: similar to trip cancellation but now you're on the trip and you have to interrupt it due to one of the covered reasons which are almost always the same ones found under trip cancellation coverage.

travel delay:  pays additional living expenses if your trip is delayed en-route because of a covered reason such as a carrier caused delay and you incur additional living expenses such as hotel and meal expenses.

I suggest finding a plan that comes closest to meeting your basic needs and then look at the price because you want to buy a plan that meets your needs first.
