Question:

Need to garnish money...

I have a district court judgment against someone for a sum of money and the defendants will not voluntarily pay me. I need to garnish the money from them. Is there a free way I can find out where they bank so I can garnish the money that way? I suppose I could put a lien against their house but that doesn't get me my money right away. What are my options and how do I pursue them? Appreciate the feedback.

  1. If you have a judgment you need to garnish their wages, you cannot garnish a bank account.

  2. You can go back to court and get an order for the debtor to give you a list of assets.  You may want to use a lawyer.

You can then get a court order to attach his bank account and if that's not enough, another court order to garnish.
