Need to get a new auto insurance but my current insurance is expired... Help!!?

I live in IL and my current auto insurance has expired for awhile.... Is it still possible for me to get an affordable insurance? If so, which insurance co? Need Advice!!!! THANKS!!!!

Typically when applying for an Illinois auto insurance policy (or really in any state) with any type of company there will be a question on the application asking, "Has the applicant maintained continuous auto insurance coverage?" or something to that affect.

Each company will not necessarily handle your situation the same so just as with anyone it is extremely important for you to shop around and compare rates from multiple companies before you decide to purchase.

Auto insurance rates can vary dramatically from one company to the next so it can definitely pay off to shop around. You can get insurance, but since your previous policy lapsed, you are now considered high risk and will have to pay more.  Contact a local independent agent and they can run quotes with many different companies for you.

For auto insurance the obvious way to get a good quote is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make sure that you choose similar policies with the same deductibles, car type, location, etc so that all options are a good comparison.

Some states will charge you more and some won't.  Some companies will charge more and some don't.   So, call around to some local agents.
