  1. There is no way to calculate this in the real world, even if you gave us the data (current pH, volume for example).  You are best adding it in lots and measuring the pH as you go.  It may take a little, maybe much more depending on what is causing the pH depression.


  2. The amount needed has to be determined by how many gallons of water the pool holds. If you go to a pool supply store and look at the label on the PH increase powder it will give you a rough idea how many ppm {parts per million} the level will raise per pound added. I have a 80,000 gallon pool and i can count on adding 10lbs of PH increase and having my PH level go from 7.2 to 7.4. If you dont want to go through all the gallon calculatuions I would measure current level of PH, add 10 lbs of PH increase with filter running and wait 24hrs..then check PH level again and add more from there.
