Need to get to rome on 800 american dollars?

i need to get to rome in late september but i only have 800 dollars and the plane tix are 1500 usd.... does anyone have any ideas??? please help!!!!

$800 would have been a steal even a year ago!  If you plan your ticket buying wisely you can get a round trip one for about $1100 from LAX.  

I'm going back there to visit this December, and with all the searching I was unable to find anything less than $1000.  

Bottom line, you need more money.  Many airlines are either in the red or are barely making profits on many flights as it is.

Are you flying from the US to Rome?  

Check out Iberia Airlines.  You will be going through Madrid or Barcelona but not a direct flight to Rome.  I have taken this flight many many times from Miami to Italy for under $800.00.  

Also, check out different travel websites from you city to a city near Rome.  There are many trains that go to Rome from all over Italy and Europe that are really cheap and inexpensive.

I think the fuel to fly you costs more than $800. I've seen $1250, but I don't think you can get there for that much money.
