Our school gets extreamly hot because our roof is not insulated properly. We need to insulate it with something and we have heard of many ways but are still un-certain about them. Please give me your suggestions. HVAC Technical Institute will appreciate it.

  1. Depending on the type of structure you have. Conventional framed roof residential style, I would suggest blowing in Class A fire rated insulation. It is called *Insulsafe in our area. It is White and it's not the cellulose insulation.

You also need to consider if you have enough ventilation in the attic space. Power roof vents or Power gable vents may be worth the money to expel that hot air in the attic.

  2. Hire a licensed contractor, in most states it would be illegal not to, especially in a school, can you spell liability?

  3. Ask the engineers in your system or call a qualified architect and engineering company to do the proper design and specification fot the building. If this is a private rather than a public school, the answer is to call qualified professionals to do the design and to then call for competitive bids.  The professionals are trained to do this work.
