In the middle of typing a very important word document on Microsoft Word 07, something drastic happen and word just closed out my document after the hourglass popped up. However, all the while typing the paper I consistently would save the paper by hitting *ctrl s, and it would clearly state saving and the name of the document at the top. However, since losing the paper, I have not been able to locate it any where; in recent docs, my docs, recycle bin, under all files, etc. No where! The baffling thing is that it was saved more than once, because it was a considerable long paper. So my question is if it was saved and not necessarily to a specific location (can't recall, but had to be), can it be retrieved? And if so where could I locate it?

  1. Since you gave the file a name, use the Search feature and look for it..... search files and folders for *first word of my saved file name* ........ just use a partial file name in case it was not saved fully as you recall.........That will tell you where it is......... you can double click the result, or keep track of where it is and use the word processor to open it as a new document.......

  3. This may sound dumb but it saved it where ever you told it to.

Open Word and type a few characters in a blank document.

    Press ALT +F

    Then A

A dialog box will open.  It should show you the default folder for Word.  Your document should be in there.  Scroll around for it.

You also should be able to open it by click on FILE, then OPEN.

You should also be in the default folder that way. Scroll around for it.
