Need to know If I can use this hard drive in this...

Hi,
My friends laptop hard drive has failed I do have a new one which I installed but this isnt working. The original one was a ''Fujitsu MHV2100BH PL SATA'' and the new one is a ''Toshiba MK1652GSX SATA'' is this compatible with a Philips Freevents X55P. As When I go into the Windows installation it says Setup didnt detect and hard disk drives. Can you help please
