Need to know how speed up my downloads from the internet.?

I moved to Syria from the U.S. and don't have internet connection at home, so I go to the internet cafe, but they use DSL and there are a lot of people using the internet. but Idesperatelyy need to download some stuff... but it's tooooooooo slow. so can anyone help me please?

Very little you can do to speed up the transfer - you are at the mercy of the incoming DSL speed and the demand on it from others.  Try going when it is not as crowded. The programs that claim to speed up your Internet speed (By playing with MTU values etc.) are mostly bogus, and wouldn't help in this scenario anyway.

Also make sure that the files you are downloading are compressed and as small as possible.
