Wud it be a problem if I western union or money gram the money on my own name or my partners name and send the scanned receipt of that to a lady who claims to rent a very nice flat to us? The reason she wants us to do this (she says so) that she was tired of ppl commin to view the flat and later say that they cant afford so much money...she says she wants to be sure that we have that amount of money with us. Can this be a scam? Can they scam us wid the money even if the sender is me and receiver in my hubby?

  1. This sounds very strange to me. If people first go and see a flat and then say they can't afford it; well, that's what happens, isn't it? If she's tired of that she maybe should re-think about renting out her flat!

If you want to go for it anyway: It seems like this lady wants proof of how much money you have/earn. Would you be able to get a letter from your employer (or for example your employment contract) stating how much money you make per month/year? As long as you "white-out" all personal details apart from your name, that would show her that you have enough money to rent her flat.

Just make sure you don't give her any personal details, especially combinations of name/date of birth and bank account details or otherwise; go through an established agency!

Transferring money and sending her a receipt sounds a bit dodgy to me!

  2. This sounds like a SCAM.  Once she has the receipt she can get the money.  Sounds very strange to me.  Find another flat, there are plenty for rent in London.
