Need to know meaning of leg band info on maroon bellied conure here in Australia?

My conure has the info sa -4297 on a red legband, I am wondering what this means, where he came from? his s*x? his breeder? etc

Not sure if it's much help, but with the Australian National Budgerigar Council the leg rings are a set colour every year. With your band I wondered if the 97 referred to year, and on checking with the band colours, 1997 were red bands.

sa *may* refer to South Australia, or even a breeders mark. 4297 could be date (04/02/97).

Don't know for sure though, this is just a guess, and an uneducated one at that lol.

Most leg bands in Australia are used for breeder purposes & no use to parrot owners.

You can also buy leg bands in pet shops with numbers for your bird.
