Need to know the difficulty on regulating or balancing out the stability of an individual after being off ?

medications . The individual used to take Wellbutrin twice a day, Seroquel & Trazadone at night. He now takes Wellbutrin as a PRN. He was prescribed Abilify but refuses to take it because of side effects. Can someone give me useful info on this disorder & medications that may help .

  1. It the person is bipolar, the instability will INCREASE after stopping meds, particularly if s/he is taking an antidepressant without a stabilizer.  If the person isn't bipolar, then it's hard to say.  If it's just withdrawals from Seroquel, then probably not long after the insomnia wears off.

    PS - Wellbutrin isn't a PRN medicine.  There isn't a doctor who would prescribe it that way as far as I know.  Months at a time might make a little sense, but any doc I know would require an appt to go back on.  

    This person should see another doctor if s/he doesn't like the meds prescribed or questions the diagnosis or the need for medication.  Head meds aren't something to play doctor with all on your own.
