Need to know the rules of football for cheerleading!!!!????

I am on the cheerleading squad and we only cheer for football, but I have no clue what the rules of football are! Every cheerleader is supposed to know the rules of the game they are cheering for so they know when and what to cheer! Can someone please tell me some basic facts or rules about football? Help!?!
