I suffered an attack of psychosis for a period of about 8 months and was diagnosed by a psychiatrist last November after I had a mental breakdown due to workplace stress. They prescribed medications which I take and gave me some counselling. At the same time I lost my job through redundancy. On medication I was able to get another job, however I didnt tell them that I was taking medication for a mental illness. My father died in May and I was under stress again, some of the side effects of the medication were memory loss, sleeplessness and lack of concentration and this began to affect my job performance. I had a performance review and it was told to me that I should buck up my ideas, so I began looking for another job. Meanwhile my siblings want to sell my fathers house so that they can get money and so Im having to deal with that too. I was able to find another job which I will take up in October, however my memory and concentration is still bad.

Is there any advice that you can give me as to what to do next? I have been to the doctor and he reduced my medication to see if that would help but it hasnt.

Please I need to know what else I can do in order to get over this.

  1. Could you check about the possibility of changing your medication to a more 'friendly' scheme?

Also, if possible could you fix an attorney regarding your father's house selling, in order to represent your interests through this whole deal, without having you implicating much?

The saving up of the money coming from this selling, would help keeping you safe for some time.

All these could help you some regenerate your strength till your next job's taking up.

  2. Just follow your doctors advise about your medicine. try to seek a second opinion regarding your situation. My friend used to have an illness like yours, she was the eldest and the bread winner so she work hard and embraces all the stress in work and in thier house. I just  tell her not to burden herself with things that she think she can't handle. We sometimes grab all the things even we can't  or do responsibilities which are not ours. i hope you can find a job that you will enjoy not just because of the pay. I hope you can be better.
