  1. your best bet (unless you know someone there or from there) is to google Bahamas and (insert the topic you want to focus on such as 'hospital').  That should get you an overview and from there on it is research.

  2. Your US insurance wil not cover your clinic or hospital bills.  Niether with medicare.

Andros is a very large island with many remote settlements.  Some get supplies regularly, some don't .  Cost of food is about 30% about US City pricing.. and a bit restrictive.

Hurricane Preparedness... we'll it's duck and cover.  Andros isn't usually hit too hard.. since the waters are shallow.. but there is damage to roofs/ trees/ roadways etc.. and you can get cut off from other settlements easily. (even with a storm this happens).   If you are on a boat.. that's another story.. bahamaians lose boats on a regular basis..

As for banks.. they are very strict.. you'll need a bahamian to vouch for you to open an account.  This is sometimes the lawyer who helps with your mo

    Not many ATM's around.

I think you need to go spend some time where you are thinking of moving to..

You may need to consider immigration issues and whether or not your "investment" allows you to stay int he bahamas for 5 years.

Without a significant financial investment or a work permit from a employer, for the duration of time,  you can only stay for 8 months at a time.
