Need to lower my electric bill!! window units vs. hvac?

my house is 14 sq. ft. I run the hvac and a small window unit in a room that was added on recently. My july bill was $450. would it save me $$ to run 2 window units rather than the hvac & small window unit. 350 sq. ft. ( small window unit) 1100 sq. ft. living room,kit & dining. the landlord does not want to replace the equipment for the HVAC

I have window units and my some of my neighbors have central air. I do not pay as much as them in electricity. I usually come out 75 dollars less then them per month. Good luck

my power bill use to be astronomical but since i installed 2 window units, it lowered my bill in 1/2. but do buy you one that has an auto. thermostat, so when you are not home it wont run as much. and when you go to bed you could only use one in your bedroom.

And I thought my house was small.  Yes, window units will use less electricity, especially energy star rated ones.  There are no losses through the ductwork and they come with the correct charge of freon, where many central units are incorrectly charged by servicemen.
