I usually spend a lot of my time at the library, but it's usually just browsing around, reading whatever books look interesting. Now, that's fine, but now I'm thinking about college and want to knuckle down some more. Studying at home is impossible, so I need to make something that will fit in a smallish backpack and not take up a lot of space at a library table. It's got to be able to hold supplies for all subjects. I'd like to make it myself if possible, but if anyone knows of something (not just a pencil case, I also need stuff like paper clips) that I could buy, please let me know about it.

I also need to figure out how to make a school binder; I've never had a real formal school-type experience. I've got a binder and pocket dividers but I'm not sure what the best way to set it up is.

  1. Go to the crafts section of the bookstore. They will have books that can help you. Look through the books to find illustrations showing the type of box you want. Then try and make it, or ask your parents to help, or any teacher to help.

  2. The binder, needs to be divided into even sections with your dividers. Then on the divider put "Math" or what ever the subject is. You can put notes, worksheets, tests, etc in it.

For the bag to take to the library try this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2916332/0~23...  or even this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2955280/0~23...

  3. Skip the binder, and go with a nice 5-subject notebook.  You won't be wanting a binder when you get to college, anyway.  No point in learning to rely on one now.  Believe me... you'll be making an effort to carry as little as possible after the first week.  ;)

For the supply kit, I used to use something I found at an art supply store.  It was a doublesided plastic box.  One side had longer compartments for pencils and pens, and the other had smaller slots for things like erasers, paper clips, etc.  Art supply stores or hobby/craft stores are great places to look for things like that.
