its a 1957 sea horse johnson outboard motor mod#cd22m the starter cord broke

  1. Go to a hardware store and get one for a lawn mower.  There isn't anything special about it just because it's an outboard motor.  Be sure to get a long one and you can cut it to length.

  2. Hey got a answer for you that is dead on accurate.

    Take the cover loose both front and back. There on top is the pull cord. Unwind the rope but not the spring. Replace the pull rope with 3/16 nlon rope reattach the handle and put the covewrs back on. You set to go.
