Need to replace broken medicine glass shelf?

Question

The shelf is 13 1/2 x 3 inches it has rounded not sharp edges and is fairly thick.I dropped it and it broke so I need to replace it.

Take your measurements to a hardware store and they will fix you up.You might want to go with Plexiglas in the future.

you can either try to find a replacement if you remember the name of the  shelve maker, or you can go to a glass place and have one cut to measure .

Take one of the other shelves to your glass supplier.  They can cut and polish one to fit.  It may cost almost as much as it would be to replace the cabinet with an inexpensive one from your local home store, but worth it if you are fond of your current one.

PS - regular window glass isn't strong enough.

Well, I don't see why the negative marks on a couple of the answers, they're all valid....

Most hardware stores will cut and replace window glass, even if they don't advertise the service.

Window glass itself is usually thinner than glass used as shelves, but the hardware store may have it, or be able to order it.  Wouldnt hurt to ask.  The hardware store may or may not be able to round the edges.

A glass/window repair shop will definitely have the correct material in stock, AND have the tools needed to round the edges.  Expect them to cost more than a hardware store .... but you will get an exact replacement.

Your best approach will be to take a matching shelf, if you have one, to the store, or repair shop.  If you don't have a matching shelf, then the next best approach is to make a template... either cut a thin layer of plywood to fit exactly like you want the glass shelf to fit, or a piece of stiff cardbaord.  Be sure to keep your template stiff... you wouldnt want to measure it with a bow in it, heheheh.  Both places will also need to know how thick the shelf needs to be.
