I am desperate to go and meet a friend in Coulsdon - London, however i would be using trains, ive never ever used a train in my life and haven't got a clue, help would be much apreciated. The whole thing completely looses me. I really really want to go, and i want to be able to do it. Any help/tips/advice would be great, the route would be Amersham (Buckinghamshire) to Coulsdon south.

Basic info also welcomed i.e no. of stops, estimated times.. etc :)

thankyou so much, 10 points to best and most detailed answer.

  1. try www.traveline.info, i always use that site if i am going somewhere i don't know how to get to

  2. All information is here http://www.thetrainline.co.uk/

  3. None of the above answers really seem to address your concerns. The way to make this journey is by Chiltern Line train from Amersham to Marylebone, then Underground to London Bridge, then Southern train to Coulsdon South. The Underground journey require changes - what I would suggest is southbound Bakerloo line from Marylebone to the terminus at Elephant & Castle, thence northbound Northern line, two stops to London Bridge. There is a way to avoid the Underground, if there is a bus from Amersham to Watford and that is go to Watford Junction and catch the 11 mins past the hour Brighton service, changing at East Croydon to your Coulsdon South Train.

  4. It should take about 2 hours, but it looks like you'll have to go on the tube as well. I'm not sure how many stops there are but if you look on http://nationalrail.co.uk/stations_desti... it will be able to tell you the times you get to each stop and which tube stations you need etc.

Don't worry, trains aren't that hard to use, I'm sure you'll be fine and will have a great time!

    =)
