  1. Not allowed to take goods on finance as they are in law not yours, they belong to the finance company. The bailiffs can take anything that is yours apart from beds and other essentials. If your children have consoles these can also be taken.my advice legal or not (not) is to rmove anything you want to keep to another house ie a relative. This is not a legal step but will save a few of your goods being distrained.

  2. Bailiffs run on very strict rules on what they can and cannot take. First off you need to know that you don't have to open the door to them, speak to them or let them in. they cannot force there way in or force you out of the way to get in. They can only get in if you allow them to or they can get in through peaceful entry, by an open window or unlocked door. So don't let them in and make sure you lock all doors and close all windows when ever your out. Also don't sign anything they post through the door, there trying to cheat you out of your legal rights.

They are not allowed to take essential items, furniture or kitchen appliances (that doesn't include washing machines, microwaves or tumble dryers. they can take those) they can't take clothes or personal items and can't touch children's toys, but they can take games consoles and tvs/cd players. they can't take things that you use for  work, so can't take your PC if you use it for work (you have to be able to prove it though) and no they can't take stuff on finance or anything that isn't yours.

Most bailiffs will accept payment plans rather then taking your stuff, they will only resort to that as a last resort. If you don't pay up and they can't get hold of you or get entry into your property they will give the debt back to the company it originally came from and then it will be up to the original creditor!
