Need vaccum, sweeper.. please help?

i need a new vaccum sweeper but cant afford a dyson, rainbow or kirby. any suggestions for good suction and maybe even one with a hush mode that works!! thanks so much

Save up for the Dyson, but in the mean time get a Eureka (preferably a bagless one, with at least 1 filter).

They aren't very quiet but they were invented by someone who had asthma (actually I can't remember if it was the inventor or one of his kids) and wanted a machine that would not only pick up "basic debris" but would also get the dust, mites, pet dander, etc... that many vacuums leave behind.  

I think the Eureka Altima is one that's not too expensive (try overstock.com or amazon.com for the best prices) - it'll be good for you to use until you get can a higher end model. You need to empty the chamber that collects dust/dirt frequently, and it's important to change out the filters every (some you can rinse out, others need to be replaced) couple of months to make sure that you're getting the best suction possible.

Consumer Reports rates the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive as the top model (about $300).  If that is too expensive, the best rated lower-priced vacuum is the Eureka Boss SmartVac4870 for $150.  Both are Consumer Reports Best Buys.

Recommend Panasonic Upright Vacuum not bagless model it is easy to manuever around the home lightweight enough to pickup quiet and powerful has twelve amp motor, this vacuum cleans up pet hair easily and gets it all motor last a long time and is very reliable Good Luck !

Go to a flea market, many dealers sell reconditioned mchine there, Kirby's are heavy but effective, seen them for $150.00locally,

Lots of dealrs sell reconditioned ones.

Not a computer easy to repair

The Eureka 4870 is a good cleaning machine.  You can find Dyson's for under $300.  Dyson is the only bag-less machine that I would recommend.  If you buy any thing else, make sure it has a bag.

I tried the other brand ... and i am sorry to say that DYSON is worth the money !

other brands ( and believe me i tried them ) are just too bad for the price they ask you to pay ...

DYSON is really the one you should buy ... i didn't have the money for a dyson at first but i saved some and now i don't regret buying something a little bit more expensive ... it cleans like crazy ! and it's not noisy at all
