Okay, well.

I turned vegetarian about 2 weeks ago.

Mainly because I'm sick of meat.

Here's where it gets more personal.

I think I am so obese,

I'm about 5'11"

and I weight about 165-170 pounds.

Yeah, it's a lot.. I know.

Do you think I will lose weight?

I am active,

I love to walk, and do personal exercising activities.

Help me out :)

  1. Like everyone else your not obese...........you will be healthier that's for sure and be mindful when eating don't eat junk food still as a vegetarian think local from the earth and organic and your beautiful no matter what your size don't listen to everyone else it may be just your body type your meant to have because contrary to popular belief not all vegetarian are scrawny and pale (I'm black and I'm just a slI'm person natural and I'm trying to GAIN weight at 5'5 I'm only 106 lbs.and im 18 been stuck like that for the entire 4 years of high school) everyone has image issues wether we are too big in some peoples eyes or too small in other you cant please everyone so don't try just please yourself

  2. You are not obese.  You are not even overweight.  At 170, you are within the healthy BMI range.  Look here: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Vegetarianism is not a diet.  Losing weight is a function of burning more calories than you consume.  If you replace your meat calories with other high calorie foods (like cheese) and don't increase your activity level, then you won't lose weight.  If you eat fewer calories and/or exercise more, you will.

  3. You can eat lots of green vegis because they are so healthy that they have almost no calories. Also, you should identify how many calaries you will need in a day, depending on how much exersize. A normal person needs about 2000 calaries a day, (you probably know that). If you watch your diet (that doesnt mean starve) and exercize, you will probably lose a lot of weight!

    Good Luck!

  4. Yes, if you keep up your protein intake....

  5. run around ur house several times a day {thats just a warm up}

  6. You will loose weight at first, seeing as the vegetarian diet does usually contain more fiber because you get your protein from things like beans and mushrooms which have more fiber in them then meat. But you don't sound that big, a person of that height is not considered to be obese at those weights, just maybe a little chubby depending on the muscle weight you have you may be fine. I would suggest going to a doctor and getting your body fat %'s worked out, they have special scales for that. Your doctor may also be able to suggest the best diet & exercise for your body type.

  7. You're not obese. You are very tall.

And i have the same mind set.

    I'm about 5'8'' and about 135.

So first off, you're not fat :]

Being a vegetarian doesn't make you lose weight although.

I read on peta2.com that a normal vege. does weigh about 20 lbs less. But I've been one for a while and stayed about the same. You will although be healthier. Dr. Atkins died at about 250 lbs from a heart attack, and some believe it was from all the meat, since his diet pushed for eating meat.

If you are looking to become healthier, this is good :] and cutting sodas.

    Good luck. :D

  8. First of all, you are not obese. Second, you may or may not loose weight being a vegetarian. You will be eating more fruits and veggies though. Concentrate on eating healthy foods for your health. Your body will adjust and be where it needs to be.

  9. YOU ARE NOT OBESE!!!! i became a vegetarian about a year ago and i haven't lost a lot of weight, the most i've lost because of being a vegetarian was probably about 2 pounds and i havn't gained a lot either so i think u'll probably stay about the same weight as long as u eat a lot of protein and fruits and vegies! hope u enjoy being a vegetarian, cuz i no i do and i dont miss meat one bit!!!

  10. Hey Jenna,

I way about the same and I'm 5'7". When people find out I'm veggie they say "no wonder your not fat." (Most guys my age are...(41)) The best thing to do is stay away from greasy stuff like cheese, and fried food. Your body can only process so many calories...so what it can't, stays on YOU. It's pretty simple when you think about it. One thing I did when I was trying to loose weight was figure out the dishes I love to eat that have the least amount of fat, and try and eat mostly that stuff.  Good luck and write me if you want any ideas!
